About Me

Our job is not to create content.
Our job is to change the world of the people who consume it.
— Andrew Fryrear

Hi, I’m Allie.

Ready for that clichéd writer bio intro? I’ve been writing for as long as I can remember.

I started writing professionally, however, as a junior in college. I moved into a full-time marketing job upon graduation in 2016, but it wasn’t long before I quit to build my freelance writing business.

The months that followed were the most exciting, terrifying, tumultuous, and educational months of my life. I truly wouldn’t be who I am today without that risk and experience.

Almost exactly 18 months after the day I quit my job, I was contacted by a hiring manager at HubSpot. They wanted to hire me as part of a new content initiative.

For reference, HubSpot’s blog was my first introduction to content marketing. They were the reason I wanted to be a marketing writer in the first place. So, to hear from them — to be recruited by them — was an extreme honor.

I started at HubSpot in May 2018 and have since been promoted twice, created my own blog series, and own two internal marketing programs.

I also freelance! I write marketing content that helps business owners, entrepreneurs, and marketers build, grow, and differentiate their companies. My typical clients include SaaS companies, e-commerce businesses, and business publications.

Here are some fun facts about me.

  • I started a business in college (as a senior project) that I later sold for a profit. The buyers are still operating it today.

  • I was first-chair flute in my middle school band. I sat on (and crushed) two flutes in my three-year tenure. It’s a surprise that they kept me around, really.

  • Myers-Briggs: INFJ | Enneagram: 6w5 | DiSC: (very) C

I’m currently based in Chicago.
